Based on satellite data, the Kamchatkan Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) reported that an eruption at Chikurachki began on 27 July. An ash plume, first identified at 1748, rose to altitudes of 4-5 km (13,100-16,400 ft) and drifted about 100 km NE.
