Innoflight is proposing to significantly expand the waveform capability of the SDR based SCR-104 radio system. Waveform support will provide interoperability with NEN, DSN, SN (TDRSS) and AFSCN. With those waveforms – the SCR-104 will be interoperable with the vast majority of the Govt and commercial ground station infrastructure throughout the world. Ranging will address the needs of a growing need to support missions in non Low Earth Orbits (LEO) that may extend beyond Lunar orbits and into deep space. Secure DTN will provide emerging capability to securely transfer mission data between the spacecraft and ground control. In the hardware realm, we are proposing to add an X-Band and optical communications Front End Module (FEM). Those will expand the frequency capability of the SCR-104 from L/S Band to X-Band and optical (laser) communications.Not a single radio on the market can provide the capabilities proposed. The capabilities enumerated will be built into the radio and on-orbit selectable on command. The SCR-104 will be a truly agile space communications system.

This is early/mid-stage (TRL 6) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding).
