Description
IAI’s proposed WITIS technology is GPS independent and capable of providing timing and synchronization for multi-static systems with sub-nanosecond accuracies, while staying within the SWaP goals provided by NASA. The proposed WITIS solution combines key technologies developed at IAI in the areas of: Wireless synchronization of distributed systems Distributed communications/radar payload design with path to space applications WITIS can be designed and integrated, either as a standalone solution or as a tightly integrated applique with existing multi-static radar systems.
Benefits
Potential NASA applications include Distributed radar beam-forming. Synchronized CubeSat constellation for remote-sensing in GPS denied environments Precise ranging between space-borne articles/ satellites.
Once proven in the NASA domain, WITIS assisted beamforming applications of ultra-precision synchronization and localization could replace or augment differential GPS technologies used in surveying, control of autonomous vehicles, wireless sensor networks, and communication systems.
