Canceled TRL 6 (started at 5, targeting 7)
FROST is a joint venture with the German Space Agency (DLR) to fly NASA cryogenic fluid management (CFM) technologies on-board the DLR Compact Sat-2. FROST is one of 2 mission options being explored by DLR with a decision forthcoming in early calendar year 2021. ICEE is a CFM experiment that is being considered for flight to the International Space Station. The STMD CFM Technical Integration Manager will be assessing in early Spring which of these 2 projects, FROST or ICEE, will proceed to their respective mission.
FROST will advance LN2 long duration storage and transfer capabilities through a free flyer experiment demonstrating multiple technologies. ICEE will do the same with an ISS payload.

This is early/mid-stage (TRL 6) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding). Check whether a current SBIR/STTR solicitation topic overlaps with this project's technology area, or contact the project directly (above) to ask.
None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
