RHADR ADC Evaluation Task

Description

This IRAD is for the test and evaluation of a new rad-hard 12-bit successive approximation (SA) analog to digital converter (ADC). In FY21, we fabricated a new readout ASIC which includes the SA ADC. The ADC is medium speed (< 100kHz sample rate) and may be used for general purpose house keeping tasks such as current monitoring, temperature measurement, etc. The ADC runs off of a 1.8V power supply and can digitize signals in the range from 0V to 1.8V.

Benefits

This new ADC will provide medium speed digitizer performance that is radiation hard, low power, and medium speed. The ADC is one of many blocks on the ASIC including 21 sigma-delta ADCs, a crystal stabilized oscillator and 20 variable gain low offset amplifiers.
