As access to space increases, so does the need for ground resources, such as tracking stations. With an in-space demonstration, Blue Canyon Technologies aimed to mature the X-NAV autonomous navigation software solution for CubeSats so they can traverse space with reduced need for navigational aid from ground stations on Earth, using a modular autonomous orbit determination capability. This project was canceled due to delays in technical progress and scope changes that impacted the alignment to the program portfolio.
This demonstration could enhance CubeSat autonomous navigation by reducing the need for navigational aid from ground stations on Earth, through the application of new software, algorithms, methodology.
