Completed TRL 3 (started at 3, targeting 3)
Address the question of the minimum necessary hardware configuration for the ACE lidar through: Using real lidar data, perform trade space analysis of optical data acquired versus aerosol physical parameters retrieved. Perform global simulations of lidar aerosol measurements using GEOS-5 model output.
Perform trade-space analysis of optical data input versus retrieved aerosol physical properties using actual multi-wavelength lidar measurements acquired from GSFC during DISCOVER-AQ. Perform same trade space analysis using simulated data. Perform multi-wavelength lidar simulation based on output from the GEOS-5 climate model. Demonstrate aerosol physical retievals from simulated lidar data that is based on GEOS-5 output.
Aid in defining the minimum necessary hardware configration for the lidar anticipated for the Aerosol, Clouds, Ecosystem mission.

Listed on TechPort itself — the most direct way to ask about this specific project.
This is early/mid-stage (TRL 3) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding). Check whether a current SBIR/STTR solicitation topic overlaps with this project's technology area, or contact the project directly (above) to ask.
None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
