Completed TRL 6 (started at 4, targeting 6)
In this collaboration, Maxar Technologies will deliver to the NASA test centers a mechanical Inverted Meta-Morphic-Alpha (IMM-α) Standard Power Module (SPM), an electrically active IMM-α SPM and associated ground test equipment. The IMM-α SPM technology will enable future commercial and NASA missions with higher power at a lower mass. Using the technical expertise and unique test capabilities at NASA GRC and NASA MSFC, these two centers will perform a comprehensive combined environmental test series. This array technology can be further advanced from TRL4 to TRL6.
Higher power solar arrays; less massive solar arrays for same power
Listed on TechPort itself — the most direct way to ask about this specific project.
This is early/mid-stage (TRL 6) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding). Check whether a current SBIR/STTR solicitation topic overlaps with this project's technology area, or contact the project directly (above) to ask.
None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
