Description

During FY15-17, the GCD Human Robotic Systems project, Rover Technologies element developed technologies focused on the AES Resource Prospect (RP) mission. The rover work has largely transitioned into AES. This task plan covers 4 FTE at the Johnson Space Center supported by GCD during FY18. The RP mission is a robotic lunar polar mission seeking to identify the quantity and distribution of volatiles (primarily through water ice) at the lunar poles. The rover hosts the RESOLVE payload to perform prospecting and processing for volatiles in dry areas (as a control), and areas with stable water at the 1) surface, 2) between surface and 0.5m and 3) between 0.5m and 1.0m.
