ISRU-Martian Dust Filter (MDF-BAA)

Description

This Compact High Efficiency Self-Cleaning Dust Filter for Martian Air will be effective in removing dust particles in air that can adversely affect the performance of equipment, such as air compressors and oxygen generators. The filter consists of two parts. The first stage is a rotating separator that will remove the larger dust particles aerodynamically and mechanically from the gas flow. The second part is an electrostatic separator that will charge up the smaller dust particles and remove them from the gas flow.

Benefits


The technology could provide 1) increased dust filtration efficiency, 2) filtration of particles over a wide size range (including fines) in a single compact device, and 3) and possibly a simple self-cleaning capability.
