Canceled TRL 6 (started at 2, targeting 6)
Developing remote mobile dexterous manipulation capabilities for robust IVR and surface robot task performance.
Enables broad, robust manipulation capabilities for intravehicular and exploration robotics deployable to multiple manipulator platforms. An established remote manipulation capability provides for the immediate utility of IVR and surface systems when these robots come online. Critical IVR and surface manipulation tasks are made possible in the absence of human crew or crew time. Semi-autonomous behaviors completed through this effort provide the needed starting point for further automation and autonomous operations in the future.

This is early/mid-stage (TRL 6) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding). Check whether a current SBIR/STTR solicitation topic overlaps with this project's technology area, or contact the project directly (above) to ask.
None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
