Phase calibration is required for navigational systems to measure phase variations in the receiving system which is necessary to reach high accuracy. However, leakage strongly interferes with the phase calibration signal when the narrow-band phase calibration system is less stable than the phase of broad-band signal it needs to calibrate. To overcome this problem, we propose a wide-band phase calibration system that is suitable for calibration of broad-band signals.
The ultimate target of opportunity is a Distributed Systems Mission (DSM) that will address the emerging Space RFI mitigation needs and accurately calibrate atmospheric delay corrections. This DSM is a Radical Innovation Initiative (RI^2) candidate in FY24-26. This IRAD effort positions us for a DSM.
