Dialogue Voice I/O Crew Assistant

Description
This project aims to accelerate human exploration and support crew autonomy through an intuitive, dialogue-based, voice crew assistant. The system would serve as a central communication hub between crew and spacecraft/ground systems, facilitating crew logistics and procedures. Crew Assistance technology will be an essential element to accelerate the human lunar exploration missions. Operations and training burdens must be minimized, in order to meet Lunar & Mars challenges and compressed schedule. By providing a consistent and intuitive Dialogue Voice I/O Crew Assistance interface, Inadequate Human Computer Interaction Risk, identified by HRP / Human Capabilities Assessments for Autonomous Missions (HCAAM) can be mitigated. We propose a Dialogue Voice I/O Crew Assistant that: 1. Understands the crew communication protocols 2. Have access and knowledge about the crew timeline and procedures 3. Interface to telemetry of interest to understand the current status and upcoming tasks that the crew is involved in 4. Facilitate the execution of procedures by providing context-aware and time-relevant information
Benefits
To achieve crew autonomy and independence from the ground support, an intuitive dialogue based voice assistant must be developed to assist human operator and to be the communication hub between the crew and ground. 1. Collaborating with Google to apply latest voice technologies in space-flight environment. Duplex provides next-gen AI driven voice assistance capabilities. 2. Traditional systems employ a traditional command and response pattern such as Siri/Alexa. No continuous dialogue that is aware of operational context. 3. Use Lunar environment as proving grounds for technology in preparation for Mars missions where more communication limitations are expected
