The Parachute Canopy Instrumentation Platform (PCIP) will enable two-way wireless communication with any deployed textile or semi-rigid body, including parachute canopies and inflatable/deployable decelerators or habitats. Ultimately, PCIP will serve as a platform that can be adopted for use with a variety of embedded measurement devices onboard these structures.
A clear infusion path for PCIP is established primarily through Airborne Systems North America and CPAS. PCIP has already leveraged testing opportunities through both entities, and are in the planning stages for additional flight tests. Through these partnerships, the need for and capabilities of the PCIP system can be demonstrated directly to potential customers.
