Description
The task goal is to develop and demonstrate an innovative software architecture, the "Resilient Spacecraft Executive", that will enable highly-resilient spacecraft and reduce future mission risk and cost. We will develop resilient execution capability that is easily deployable and can handle multiple novel situations. The task will also mature and integrate technologies such as risk-aware execution, correct-by-construction control policy synthesis, and model-based systems engineering.

Enables exploration of high-priority planetary bodies that require resilient spacecraft capabilities. Venus lander (e.g., SAGE, Intrepid) needing rapid mission planning, fast measurement selection and prioritization, etc. Trojan Tour and Rendezvous needing decade long cruise phase, three week fly-by opportunities, rapid trajectory changes in response to target identification, etc. Mars Sample Return needing management of telecommunication uncertainty, terrain uncertainty during driving and prioritization of data to maximize downlink efficiency. Future Interstellar Probe needing efficient hibernation during long-term cruise (without large ops support), management of mission duration of >50 years, handling of extreme bandwidth limitations, etc.
