Assess, model, and predict the ability for next generation propulsors to meet market driven goals for noise (4 dB reduction) and efficiency (3 - 5% fuel burn reduction) with integration effects, relative to 2021 best in class propulsors, and reduce risk to a new single aisle aircraft in the 2030s.
The Efficient Quiet integrated Propulsors (EQuiP) Technical Challenge supports the Sustainable Flight National Partnership (SFNP) and U.S. Aviation Climate Action Plan goals by accelerating development of next-generation aircraft propulsors for 2030s entry into service with 5-10% fuel burn and 4 EPNdB cumulative noise reductions. These measurements will account for engine-airframe integration effects relative to the 2021 best-in-class aircraft. The EQuiP TC leverages the SFNP, FAA CLEEN, and industry contributions to predict, model, and assess engine-airframe integration effects that are critical to meeting future takeoff and landing noise regulations, market driven fuel burn goals, safety, and operability requirements for ultra-short nacelle and unducted propulsors.
