Development of the NASA Ames Imaging Module, Year 2 (AIM)

We propose to take the prototype camera (development of which was funded from a past CIF) and increase its TRL by sending it through environmental testing, and then launching it as a piggyback payload on a separately funded, suborbital launch in January 2015. This allows for validation of the design at a relatively low cost.

This is early/mid-stage (TRL 5) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding).
