Description

To develop and demonstrate new pulsed lasers for time-resolved Raman spectroscopy.

A compact miniaturized planetary surface Raman Instrument capable of interrogating the widest range of materials yet proposed by a single microscopic Raman instrument - Nearly all rock forming minerals; Weathering products; Many organics of prime importance to planetary science, including fossilized carbonaceous materials and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). Instrument that can be proposed to NASA for a lander / Rover mission to many different target bodies all rocky / icy planetary bodies (Mars, Venus, Asteroids, Comets, the Moon, Mars' moons, etc.)
