N-2 Contingency Algorithms for Autonomous Traffic Safety Monitoring

Description

This project is concerned with constructing a conceptual and algorithmic framework for tractable monitoring of dense heterogeneous traffic under any control architecture, to provably capture system-level approaches to phase transitions from safe and controllable to intermediate to uncontrollable. The basis of the concept relies on fast algorithms for detecting the most dangerous points of failure in power grids (Turitsyn' et al. 2013), with provable properties.

Benefits

If fully successful, the approach and the resulting software will play an active role in facilitating the implementation of traffic control autonomy via maintaining safe, controllable state of airspace in the presence of dense heterogeneous operations.
