Functionalized CNTs for Composites with Little to No Resin

Description
In this work, CNTs functionalized with thermally labile groups will be used to fabricate composites containing little to no polymer resin.
Benefits
Fabrication of complex composite structures exhibiting CNT-like mechanical properties would allow for lower scrap and reducing part count. Additionally, the achievement of CNT-like properties in these structures would reduce vehicle weight resulting in fuel savings and increased cargo personnel carrying capability. By using CNTs modified with thermally labile groups, composite fabrication would not be limited to traditional flat panels as with CNT tapes/sheets but be expanded to making complex structure thereby opening the design space.
