Conventional tunable emissions in Terahertz (THz) quantum cascade (QC) laser are often based on temperature and current approaches to tune the emission frequency of QC laser, but such approaches offer very limited tuning resolution capabilities. This effect can limit the ability of measuring a high number of molecular, atomic, and ionic elements in modern astrophysics and atmospheric sciences. We present the multi-wavelength tuning solution and optical configuration employed to enhance the tuning resolution capability in the emission frequency of quantum cascade laser operating in the desirable Terahertz range (i.e. 1 to 6 THz).
Utilization of Tunable THz Receiver based on Quantum Cascade Laser is a vital component in Human Exploration and Operations (HEO) and Space Technology Program supporting NASA's future space exploration and science missions and Technology Demonstration Missions. Other applications include remote sensing of earth's atmosphere, and in astronomy to understand the formation of planets, stars, and galaxies.
