Description
Use AM to fabricate compositionally graded and cold encoder shafts and test samples, and characterize their magnetic and mechanical properties. Analyze phase diagrams and develop composition maps for manufacturing to avoid brittle intermetallics and other unwanted phases. Collaborate with RPM Innovations for AM Fabrication. Partner with UC Berkeley for microstructure analysis.

Interference of encoder signal due to actuator brake magnetics. Design and develop a gradient alloy cold encoder shaft fabricated by Additive Manufacturing (AM) using magnetic and non-magnetic alloys.
