Description

The goal is to produce a high efficiency thermoelectric generator for use in habitats This research is innovative in that it will produce a high efficiency thermoelectric generator by producing high figure of merit n and p type thermoelectrics via advanced manufacturing techniques. It is proposed to produce thermoelectrics with a figure of merit of 2 which will not only benefit habitat but make them commercially viable.

Benefits

A successful project resulting in a high efficiency thermoelectric generator will greatly enhance the energy producing capabilities of lunar and Martian habitats by providing safe and abundant energy when coupled with solar. This will obviate the need for nuclear power plants. As such, the cost, schedule and risk will be greatly reduced
