The objective is to increase the performance of supercapacitors with a goal of 0.5 kW hr/kg; that of Lithium ion batteries. NASA MSFC has already demonstrated supercapacitors with an energy density of Ni-Cd batteries. The performance is limited to the material properties. MSFC will attempt to sinter samples at a heating rate of 300C/min (3x previous rates) with an anticipated grain sizes in the nanometer range to increase energy storage area.
Four private companies are bought evaluation licenses for our product for terrestrial commercial applications. An order of magnitude increase in energy density will draw even more private interest. We have a patent pending on our present product and will submit new NTR based upon new process

This is a mature technology (TRL 7+) — the realistic path in is usually NASA's Technology Transfer Program: licensing an existing NASA patent, or a Space Act Agreement to use NASA facilities/expertise directly. NASA also runs a startup licensing program with no upfront fee for companies formed to commercialize a specific NASA technology.
