Description

Develop a tool kit to get material parameters, which are difficult to obtain from experiment, from atomistic simulations and use them to obtain the material parameters for Ni-Ti alloys.

Benefits

Proper material parameters are crucial for the process model because, using the selective laser melting technique, Ni-Ti SMA parts can be created with multiple shape-recovery stages activated at different temperatures. If successful, this multiscale framework for complex AM parts developed by JPL and ARC can be applied to arbitrary problems in AM of interest to NASA and the broader community.
