In this study, we propose to apply state of the art modal analysis methods to the Modal Propellant Gauging(MPG) system to measure cryogenic propellant tank fill level. This study seeks to decrease the power required by the shakers to adequately excite the tanks. Also, this study will develop methods for optimally locating response accelerometers to provide a robust and accurate layout to measure the modal parameters of interest.
Modal Propellant Gauging, utilizing state of the art modal analysis algorithms, will increase robustness and accuracy in determining cryogenic propellant tank levels during flight.
