Fabricate NiTi shape memory alloys using additive manufacturing to demonstrate kinematic applications (e.g. shielding, crushables) that accommodate high strain.

Benefits

Various NASA programs require kinetic energy capture (e.g. Whipple shielding, bolt catchers, lander legs), but rarely consider alternate designs to enable better compaction, coupled with advanced materials.
