Completed TRL 4 (started at 1, targeting 4)
Leverage available tools such as: NDARC, CAMRADII, ANOPP2, and OVERFLOW to develop a new approach to proprotor design. Validate our approach with mid-scale proprotor tests, and investigate scaling effects with small-scale versions of our mid-scale proprotors.
To date, there are no publications or widely accepted approaches to designing proprotors specific to an Urban Air Mobility (UAM) vehicle. We will leverage available tools to develop and publish a new proprotor design approach relevant to UAM vehicles. We will also publish all relevant experimental/theoretical data providing a much needed proprotor acoustics/performance reference point.

This is early/mid-stage (TRL 4) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding). Check whether a current SBIR/STTR solicitation topic overlaps with this project's technology area, or contact the project directly (above) to ask.
None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
