Active Full-Shell X-Ray Optics, Year 2

Description

The goal of this proposal is to build upon to an initial proof-of-concept CIF by incorporating advancements and lessons learned to develop an active full-shell X-ray optic prototype. The objective of active full-shell X-ray optics is to switch between a wide field prescription and a narrow field prescription to minimize the need for multiple telescopes (and potentially multiple missions).

Benefits

The outcome of this effort will be of great science advantage for the X-ray astronomy community and will result in potentially many millions of dollars of savings to NASA.
