Description

Develop methodologies for 1) for optimizing the design of lamp arrays to more accurately simulate flight conditions in ground testing using Normalized Heat Flux Distribution Matrices (NHFDMs) and 2) achieving sub-pixel resolution in quartz lamp heat flux distributions.

Benefits

Improve hypersonic vehicle model validation. Characterize ground test environment, leading to improved data correlation and better design of future tests. Improve use and maintenance of quartz lamps, benefitting numerous industries.
