Demonstration of a High Power Density Thermal Management System for Motors, Inverters, and Battery Modules

Description

This study focuses on the design and testing of multiple advanced thermal management technologies for electrified aircraft; motors, inverters, and battery modules. Each of the project deliverables give a direct benefit for SUSAN and AATT, with a clear path toward flight demonstration in FY23. The techonologies will also benefit similar electric aircraft programs; HEMM, and RVLT.

Benefits

This project serves to advance NASA’s goal in progressing the field of electrified aircraft. Through testing, a wide range of multifunctional, flightweight, thermal management, technologies will be developed for aircraft propulsion. These technologies will reduce weight while improving thermal performance and allow for the progression of higher power density components for electric aircraft.
