This project aims to reduce cost and improve the performance of space systems development by leveraging modern computational technologies, such as cloud-based Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and AI-enabled automation. Focusing on mechanical and opto-mechanical systems, the proposal will conduct market research, develop and test new tools, and address cultural and technical barriers to adoption. By integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, engineers will efficiently automate workflows and access critical knowledge. Building on the success of the Evolved Structures project, this 3-year effort targets incremental infusion of mature technologies while supporting the development of emerging ones, ultimately enabling human-AI collaboration for space systems development.
