Description

Optical atomic clocks are critical tools for NASA missions as they enable autonomous navigation, planetary science, and can be used to establish lunar timing networks. We are developing an Optical Atomic Strontium Ion Clock (OASIC), which is a simple, robust, spaceflight compatible high performance atomic clock.

Benefits

OASIC leverages high accuracy timing and exquisite stability provided by optical atomic clocks in a simple, robust package. OASIC can be utilized for LunaNet, a proposed lunar navigation and communications system for Artemis Astronauts, and can be used for deep space autonomous navigation.
