Weaving a Digital Thread in the IDC with CATTENS (CATTENS)

Description

CATTENS is a model-based, multi-disciplinary concurrent engineering tool whose purpose is to enable engineers and scientists to collaborate in defining and developing a mission or system concept. The initial deployment target for CATTENS was the GSFC Mission Design Laboratory (MDL), but CATTENS is available to all GSFC engineers and scientists.

Benefits

The addition of the new CATTENS capabilities outlined in this proposal will enable rapid concept analysis and design trades to be integrated early into the Digital Thread, improving the quality of MDL products, reducing the required discipline engineer staff time, and infusing better information into downstream DE tools and processes. The MDL’s frequent study cadence provides the ability to assess lessons learned and adjust quickly in a continuous improvement process that can yield a rapid and tangible return on investment.
