Autonomy is an enabling technology for NASA missions that require real-time reactions to phenomenon. The On-board Artificial Intelligence Research (OnAIR - https://github.com/nasa/OnAIR) Platform enables agile, python-based AI application development for scientists to interface with core Flight System (cFS - https://github.com/nasa/cFS). This research will demonstrate OnAIR uploaded and operating on the ISS (International Space Station) experiment (SCENIC), raise the TRL of OnAIR, and establish an approach for achieving higher autonomy for future GSFC science missions.
The OnAIR platform provides a Python environment for Artificial Intelligence research that has access to flight software telemetry from cFS. It has a plug-in architecture for adding custom AI algorithms. It can fulfill the needs of several groups:
This project with prove the maturity of OnAIR by demonstrating its operation on an ISS experiment that is running cFS. Increasing the maturity of OnAIR will spur adoption and advance our ultimate goal of increasing the autonomy of space missions.

This is a mature technology (TRL 7) — the realistic path in is usually NASA's Technology Transfer Program: licensing an existing NASA patent, or a Space Act Agreement to use NASA facilities/expertise directly.
