Description

Develop Wallops Flight Facility Power Switching Unit (WFFPSU) capable of providing avionics power distribution with internal housekeeping data over Ethernet to enable the development of a new avionics package for the Balloon Program Office (BPO) and for Sounding Rocket Program Office (SRPO).

Benefits

This work will directly benefit WFF as BPO is a key program office at the Center. The PSU will provide a more efficient, capable, and compact PSU with less mass than what is utilized in the current balloon avionics package. Improved system performance and the potential for increased launch opportunity due to a more favorable Flight Safety Analysis, all lead to a greater opportunity for science collection.

This new technology will be designed to support Center-wide use for Suborbital platforms and 7120.8 missions, such as in support of science payload and/or technology demonstrations, instrument payloads, and the Sounding Rocket Program Office.
