Distributed Systems Missions (DSM) Whole System Environment (WSE) goal is to develop a capability that will enable DSM Design Reference Missions (DRM) across the mission lifecycle in collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders in a systemic manner to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Objective 1: Provide an interconnected infrastructure that connects digital and physical environments (FlatSat, drone) across the mission lifecycle. Objective 2: Provide a capability to enable formulation of mission concepts, develop and test flight software, support operations of large constellations, perform algorithmic concept exploration, capability integration, command and control, flight software updates, and anomaly investigations. DSM WSE includes NASA Operational Simulator for Small Satellites (NOS3, https://github.com/nasa/nos3), Space Environment Telemetry Simulator (SETS), Knowledge Acquisition and Synthesis Tool (KAST, https://github.com/Aurora-Engineering/KAST), Mission Cloud Platform (MCP), and other DSM elements.
Provide a high-fidelity mission simulation capability that will support DSM and future GSFC missions through an integrated system of simulation components (environment, spacecraft, constellation, resiliency, etc.). NOS3 is open source and available for Academia and others that are interested.
