Visual/nlR Light Comm for “Drop-In” Research Systems

Description

VLCs mainly consists of light emitter (e.g., LED) transmitter and photo-detector receiver, can be small and robust, can bounce off walls. The system works on light transients, generally works with ambient light, short and medium distance comm. Systems with VLC can be "dropped" into compartment for quick comm implementation, power wiring optional.

Benefits

Reduced wiring and reduced complications that come from wiring. Possibility of true "drop-in" systems that start communicating with the VLC infrastructure implemented in aircraft. Potentially far less aircraft down-time due to far less system integration effort (wiring). Saves project time in trying to route and track cabling.
