Integrated Fiber-Optic Wavefront Sensor and Coherent Combiner (FWSCC)

Description

We propose to investigate the wavefront sensing process and design a photonic integrated circuit (PIC) with integrated photodetectors to use in combination with a photonic lantern. This could be used to replace an adaptive optics system, considerably reducing SWaP.

Benefits

The FWSCC replaces a table size system with a component that can be held in the palm of your hand, decreasing the costs of achieving high data rate lunar communication, giving moon settlers real-time digital connections to earth
