Completed TRL 3 (started at 1, targeting 3)
There is great interest in developing autonomous systems to achieve goals including set-and-forget and no-crew operations. The project will select one of the available autonomous systems and approach the problem in three phases. Phase 1 will analyze the system to determine the collection of environment and system control inputs and their associated control systems. Phase 2 will add adversarial inputs and measure their responses. Phase 3 will codify the approach and then apply the technique to a second autonomous system application.
Project results are applicable to many autonomous systems applications being developed for ground and space. Developing collaborations with academia and industry partners will strengthen development and test approaches.

This is early/mid-stage (TRL 3) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding). Check whether a current SBIR/STTR solicitation topic overlaps with this project's technology area, or contact the project directly (above) to ask.
None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
