Capacitive Mass Guaging for Cyrogenic Fluids in Micro-g (CAPMAG)

Description

We will demonstrate that electrocapacitive volume tomography (ECVT) can be used for micro-g cryogenic mass gauging, addressing Tier 1 gaps STMD-CFM-15 and HEOMD 14-09. We will integrate commercial ECVT systems with prototype tanks and demonstrate performance through ground and drop-tower (micro-g) experiments.

Benefits

Many future space missions will benefit significantly from or be enabled by the capability to guage liquid mass in micro-g settings. The capability will allow more accurate flight-performance calculations, reduced propellant margin, and greater payload mass.
