Ground Stations as a Service (GSaS) for Near Real-time Direct Broadcast Earth Science Satellite Data

Description
Satellite observing systems, particularly those in polar Low Earth Orbit (LEO) provide important datasets for understanding Earth as an integrated system. Near real-time observations are critical to support a wide range of short-term needs but significant technical challenges exist for acquiring, processing and distributing LEO satellite observations rapidly for their most optimal use. The goal is to develop a prototype Ground Station Observing Network (GSON) Center that will leverage advances in cloud computing, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS), AWS Ground Station (AWSGS) as a service (GaaS), Amazon Simple Storage Solution (S3) and CloudWatch services for supporting direct readout (DR) from direct broadcast (DB) receivers. The first prototype will be integrated and tested as part of AIST New Observing Systems (NOS) Testbed (NOS-T).
