Exploring Tools to Infuse Materials Intelligence into the Digital-Thread

Description

This study will explore tools to connect materials and processes (M&P) engineering data (i.e., “materials intelligence”) with GSFC’s digital engineering priorities and the digital thread (both current and future). We will assess the state of practice of M&P data in GSFC digital design tools (e.g., CREO and finite element software), assess practices of partner institutions and industry, and explore cutting-edge solutions to improve the digital presence of M&P data. The study report will recommend solutions, estimated costs for adoption (and potential cost savings), benefits from both a technical and business performance standpoint, and recommendations for roadmapping adoption by GSFC flight projects.
