This project is to develop a radiometric capability on the High Altitude Wind and Rain Airborne Profiler (HIWRAP) radar while modernizing its digital system and simplifying its RF design. This work replaces the existing command and data handling (C&DH) system, digital receiver, power distribution unit, and intermediate frequency (IF) boxes with a single electronics box containing on-hand radar processing modules, a single-board computer, and some supporting electronics.
This project will enhance the scientific benefit of the HIWRAP radar by enabling radiometric measurements while reducing its size, weight, and power (SWaP).
