Completed TRL 5 (started at 5, targeting 5)
This proposal aims to secure resources, including FTE and procurement funds, to design, analyze, build, and test X-ray mirror modules of adequate fidelity in FY2025. This will demonstrate both analytically and empirically the technical readiness of single-crystal silicon X-ray mirror technology.
1. Advance the single crystal silicon X-ray mirror technology which has been funded by NASA HQ under ROSES/APRA and SAT. The resources from this project will add an engineering component to the development effort.
2. Make ready this technology for a future mission like AXIS in the near term, for a flagship mission like Lynx in the long term.

This is early/mid-stage (TRL 5) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding). Check whether a current SBIR/STTR solicitation topic overlaps with this project's technology area, or contact the project directly (above) to ask.
None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
