Completed TRL 4 (started at 3, targeting 4)
This project's objective was to develop the Solar White coating material and application through coupon testing at NASA facilities. To accomplish this objective, the project developed technology to manufacture solar reflector tiles of Yttrium Oxide and Barium Fluoride and mature the technology to use as a spray-on solar reflector coating.
Solar reflectors hold promise to serve a critical role in the passive maintenance of cryogens such as liquid oxygen or liquid methane in deep-space storage. Solar White can be applied in a variety of ways including a spray and tile application, depending on mission needs.

This is early/mid-stage (TRL 4) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding). Check whether a current SBIR/STTR solicitation topic overlaps with this project's technology area, or contact the project directly (above) to ask.
None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
