Advancing Radiation-Hardened CMOS Detectors for NASA Missions

Description

Future NASA missions need radiation hard detectors that observe faint sources producing as few as a photon per hour. This program will advance room-temperature single-photon counting and photon number resolving high-gain CMOS imaging detectors with high immunity to radiation and scalability to low cost gigapixel formats. The activity will produce innovations that significantly improve the performance of CMOS detectors, guide their future development, and pave the way for a new class of single-photon sensing and photon-number resolving NIR detectors.
