Snow Remote Sensing Using Signals of Opportunity (SoOp)âNext Phase

Description

This IRAD will collect raw SoOp data at 2 frequencies for a snow target and test the signal processing options to yield a preliminary algorithm.

The project involves building hardware to measure direct and reflected SoOp signals for a snow target at 2 frequencies and 2 polarizations.  The 4 channels of data will be analyzed for relationships to snow properties.

US Army Corp of Engineers Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) needs improved snow remote sensing tools.  This project will explore new tools.
