Description

Objectives for technology investment: • Snow Depth and Snow Water Equivalent Targeted Observables for Earth System Explorer • Snow measurement in mountain snow (P-L band) • Surface Topography and Vegetation for Decadal Survey Incubation • Vegetation water content profiling (vertical profiling with multi-frequency P-Ka band signals) • Soil moisture depth profiling (depth profiling to root zone soil moisture with multi-band I/VHF-C band) • Focus area: Coupling of the water and energy cycles Key technology needed to invest in the next decade: • Verification of multi-frequency SoOp (P-S band) for Quantum Rydberg Sensors • Compact software Defined Radio based back-end capable of pairing with Quantum Rydberg Sensors for digitizing and processing multi-frequency signals • TRL 4 to TRL 5
