Lunar Dust Reduction through Electrostatic Adhesion Mitigation  (L-DREAM)

Description

L-DREAM seeks to develop a passive, transparent lunar dust mitigation coating for application on solar cells and thermal control surfaces that works by minimizing electrostatic adhesion forces. The project also seeks to develop coating compatibility with large-scale manufacturing methods and solutions for synergistic use of the coating with active dust mitigation strategies.

Technical Objectives
1. Determine environmental durability of the L-DREAM coating
2. Determine how the L-DREAM coating will affect the operation of its application technologies through testing it with solar cells, thermal control surfaces, and electrodynamic dust shield
3. Demonstrate L-DREAM dust reduction in a simulated lunar environment at the coupon-scale
4. Demonstrate L-DREAM coating compatibility with large-scale manufacturing methods
5. Demonstrate dust mitigation of the L-DREAM coating on a solar array test article and thermal control surfaces
